Question about AGA or any prebuilt Tank Stands

I know this might seem dumb, but am I the only one that looks at these stands and questions whether they can actually hold the weight of the tank and water??? My girlfriend and I just bought a 75gal AGA tank and matching stand. When we lifted the box for the stand, I could swear the box was empty cause the dang stand is so light!!! Once out of the box, I’m looking at the stand and thinking that there is no way this thing will hold 625lbs of water, let alone the tank sand and LR. Now these things are sold all over and I have never heard of a factory made tank stand breaking under the weight of the aquarium, but I still have to wonder….
am I crazy?

They will hold the tank, but they aren't quality built with quality material IMO.......I'd never buy a stand like that........

I agree 100%. They will hold up, but not good quality. I build my own and know that they will be around for a LONG time.

I agree, I have been doing woodworking for a hobby for 15 years, and I thought the exact same thing. I have seen some home built stands that are a bit of overkill also. If you are able I suggest you build your own.

We have the basic version of the AGA stand for our 90g. What tweaked me out was that the contact surface of the stand is only half an inch wide, while the bottom of the tank framing is more around one inch . . . thus, part of the bottom frame would be dangling in the air, so to speak.
Not only is the tank frame not fully supported by the stand, but it does require lining up the tank very carefully when placing it on the stand.
We alleviated that by placing a piece of plywood between the stand and tank, and I feel much more comfortable with the the arrangement. The entire surface of the tank framing is now in contact with, and sitting upon something.
I did drill two large holes in the plywood for the overflow drain and return.
