Question about clown hosting

Hey guys,
I just put a pair of Pecula clowns in my tank Sunday night. The tank is about two months old now. The only corals i have right now is a small Duncan colony, a few assorted Zoas frags and a colony of poly's. The clowns are currently trying to host on the Duncans The Duncans are unhappy. What can I put in the tank for them to host in since they seem to want something? I know anemonies are generally not recommended for a tank 2 months old but are there a hardy brand that would work? Or something else?

They're hosting Duncans, so you definitely need to do something, they will kill the Duncans. I commented in your other thread as to some alternatives.
It is recommended that anemones not go in a tank that is less than 6 months old. That being said, I've added anemones to all of my tanks in less time. My big concern for your tank with an anemone would be the flow issue that you have. If you're still changing around directions/placement of powerheads, this could cause the anemone to wander, etc.
For the time being, you could try one of those gaudy plastic anemone decorations?

you could set up a fake anemone as a host. those cool looking plastic ones, until your tank is mature enough to have a real one.

It's Joe's pet peeve, LOL. The coral or anemone is the host, the clownfish is the guest.

New - have 29 gal FOWLR tank set up for two months now. Have a pair of B/W Clowns that I would like to get a host for. Can you post a link or more information about these plastic anemones and any experience anyone has with these working?

My clowns liked the canister filters tubes. I have come to the conclusion that I really don't care for the clowns....Those little corner huggers are useless. I had one wallow a a flowerpot coral to death that was thriving for over a year. Once they decide they like to wallow in something, NOTHING will deter them until it dies and is no longer in the tank, so you will not be able to redirect them....even with an anemone

Depends who u ask, clowns with a host is very cool, many people get into the hobby because of it, with internal pumps, its going to end badly.

flower is right.. get the current coral that they are hosting out of the tank... add some fake plastic anemones (for now)... and when the clowns find a new home, I think they might even forget bout the duncans, so then you could add them back to the tank!

I recomend bubble tip anemones they are very hardy grow to about 12 inches however they do need feeding once a week they will eat most sea foods mussels scallops lobster salmon my anemones are especially fond of prawns one of my bubble tips is hosting a maroon clownfish xenia corals are also good

One thing that is important to understand about anemones (especially BTA) that they can expand/stretch themselves to strain for light. I had a BTA that was remained on the small side since it did not have to strain for light. Now, my sebae is huge.
