Hello my name is Ashley i'm new to the salt water fish industry or whatever! but i just got a oceantic BioCube salt water tank and right now im letting the water clear up (its already mixed salt water but the sand tht crushed coral or watever was dirty with mud or whatever) Do you thinik clown fish would be fine with just a lil bit of dirty sand???? or do i need to have the water crystal clear and if so what chemicals should i use!?!?!?
Also i have anything i was reading on a few websites about clownfish when they are breeding The largest one is the dominated Female and the secound largest is the domnated mature male. But anyways i was reading that When they lay their eggs and they hatch does the Male take care of the baby fish until they are sexual mature!? (because that what i heard!)
Thanks so much for you time to read my post! (sorry if i didn't spell anything currectly)
xoxo

Hi Ashley,
Welcome to our site

First - please don't buy any fish or anything else for your tank. Buy a good book. I know it's difficult to hold off but your tank cannot keep a fish alive right now. Get ahold of the book The Conscientious Marine Aquarist or any other recommended beginner saltwater aquarium book. I'm just trying to prevent you from killing some fish, trust me.
Clownfish do not care for their young. The baby Clownfish require a LOT of care by you. If you are interested in raising Clownfish I recommend reading Clownfishes
. There is also an excellent thread in our archives titles "Raising Clownfish 101".

Please read the stickies in the new hobbyist section. The tank is not cycled and to help the long term success of your aquarium you would want to start the cycle before adding any livestock.

You need to cycle your tank before you can add any livestock to your tank, your ammonia levels and nitrites will spike during the cycle, killing your livestock very quickly, do not put your fish through this, get a good book, research lots, and read the stickies in the new hobbyist section, you will be much wiser by the time your tank is ready for livestock, which can take a few weeks to months.
