Question about hypo

I am currently using hypo to treat my blue hippo and cowfish. Their SG started at 1.020 and they are down to 1.017 and I'm getting ready to do another small water change right now.
My question is, should I still be adding copper to the water changes, or should I let the copper slowly work its way out while I'm doing hypo treatment?

Why are you using copper too? If you are treatingfor Ick then you dont need copper, hypo is a more natural way of doing it without chemicals.

Im using copper because thats what I was told to use for ich. But i guess that answers my question about if I should still be using it, or if I should just slowly phase it out with my water changes. Thanks!

Read beth's thread abouttreatment at the top of this forum, it will tell you all the ins and outs. I believe though anything you can do without chemicals the better off you are. Copper I have heard will never leave the tank, if you have a substrate in the bottom, it will settle and stay in there. Hypo is a safe natural way to get rid of ick. I actually just started my hypo this past Saturday. Good luck.

I'm just finishing hypo treatment for the first time and everything has worked out great so far. Recommend that you not use copper if you can avoid it. The Ick will disappear when you get down close to 1.009. Then keep the SG at 1.009 for at least 3 weeks as the Ick cannot live in it and won't reappear. No need for copper.
