Question about LR delivery.

I'm just starting out on the road of a 47g tank. My question is in regards to delivery of LR. I'm in New England and the outside temp. is usually around freezingat this time of year.
I would assume that the LR would be in the back of an unheated UPS/FED EX truck for atleast several hours. Upon delivery, hopefully someone is home and takes the LR inside. What effect would befall LR exposed to such conditions?

You will get some die off. If left outside long enough, the rock may die completely. This happened to a guy I know, his sat outside all day during winter and his rock STUNK.

How about you have a friend or something spend the day at your house. You gotta get that LR in some water asap for best results. Less die off the better.

I have looked around at some sites that sell LR...SWF.com included. A lot of them will put in some of those hand warmer packets if you call them and ask. Or just ship it via DHL..apparently it was much to cold in NY so they shipped mine from Mass...via Florida to me. Warmed it up a bit for me and in the process pretty much destoryed it....
