Question about my cycle?

I am just about 3 weeks in and I just checked my Nitrates and they have sky rocketed!! Does this mean I am just about at the end of my cycle?

Do I need to wait for them to come back down some before I do my first water change?

What are your nitrite and ammonia levels? It means the bacteria process has taken place but you want your nitrites and ammonia levels at 0 as the bacteria is then processing those into nitrates.

My ammonia and nitrites are almost at zero..... I mean its like borderline. My PH is perfect as is my alkalinity.

as long as your trates arent off the chart its fine. Did you use any shrimp to cycle the tank?
What up kid.... yeah I have been ghost feeding thru the cycle with chunks of frozen raw shrimp.

blah. Trates dont hurt a fish unless they are sky high. I would add a Clean up crew do a couple water changes then get your first fish. what might that fish be sir?

Cool.... thanks Paul

I will probably stop by my LFS this weekend and see what they say and maybe pick up a CUC as well as do a 15% water change.

pick up the cuc. Let them do there thing. The small amount of trates wont hurt them as long as your trites and ammonia are down like you say. Put a piece of shrimp in there let them eat it and start putting waste and allowing your sump to start collecting bacteria. Wait another week or two and then re test all water. If it all comes back good go get a fish.
Do you have a fish list you want? You are doing corals right?
