Question about my Yellow Tang

I have had my yellow tang for about a month now and recently he has been constantly staring at his reflection on the glass and swimming back and forth. Is this normal? It's really funny to watch. Should i get him another yellow tang to keep him company or is he ok?
Thanks

unless you have a fairly large tank, i would not suggest getting another tang. Do you have other fish in with the tang? How big is your tank?

The tank is a 55 gallon with a cinnamon clown and 3 chromis I dont think it is large enough but in 6 months i plan on setting up a 150 gallon. Thanks for the reply

well i guess as long as he is happy no need to worry and snipe a 55 gallon is fine for yellow tang most places say a 50 gallon is the min. he is about 2 inches and moving into a 150 so no need to worry

A 55 set-up is not fine for a yellow tang. A small juvenile yellow can survive (not live survive) in a 55 for perhaps a year or maybe two if they are small enough when purchased. However, as they mature to adulthood they require at leat 6 feet of swimming space. Yellow tangs reach about 8" as adults and cannnot live in a 55 long-term. Glad you have a larger set-up planned...hope your tang survives in the interim.

You are gonna have the tang police on you!!!
I am surprised they have not been all over you yet. Keep an eye out for red spots on you tang or white. If those show up, you just might have a problem arising!! :scared:

Coralcrazy who do think I am???. Im not afraid to pull out the handcuff's either lol. I agree I say 75 min but most would disagree and say a 6 foot 90 min. But for short term it can work and alot of ppl do keep them in smaller tanks but you should really think about swimming space and should be placed in a larger tank. Since you have a 150 in the works then it shouldnt be bad.
