Question about paint?

I would like to paint my pre-filter box to my Amiracle Sea Reef sump filter and have a question about paint. First is it even safe to paint it? If it is, any particular paint I should use? I went to Home Depot and saw both "Paint for Plastic" and "Primer for Plastic", the paint for plastic says no primer needed. Please let me know!

"Why not just build a new prefilter box out of tinted or bronze acrylic"
If I knew how to do it, maybe I could. Any suggestions, directions, etc?

Ohh boyy, what a project. lol Thanks but thanks anyway, maybe I can find one a color that I want instead. I could probably do it, just I don't have that type of time right now along with trying to rebuild my motorcycle engine cause I blew it up last week, gotta get that going so I can start riding again.
