I was wondering if someone knew about peppermint shrimp i ordered five of them and i have alot of rock work and they are real small. Ok the question is I never see many of them do they come out at night? I think they are deep in the rockwork and are real shy i see one every now but its only him? oh where are my shrimp, i have these types of fish, 2 blue devil damsels, 2 yellow tail dams, 2 scooter blennies, and a yellow tang. If you could give me some info i would be glad.

They are mostly nocturnal. They will come out at night to feed. When mine gets hungry he will come out at feeding time also.

I have two of them and the only time I see them is at night. If I look hard enough I can find them in the rock work (sometimes).

We almost never see our peppermint shrimp... just often enough to say "Hey, he's still alive!"
Coankas... if you are wanting a shrimp that is out and visible a lot of the time, you might consider getting a scarlet cleaner shrimp. They are very active and don't hide all the time... great personality too.

Not all Shrimp are nocturnal. Peppermints are though. If you hand feed them they will learn to be a lot more friendly and you'll see them out all the time.

I always had the same experience with my peps and since I haven't seen them in a while I assume that they are no longer in there. I second the idea about a scarlett cleaner. Mine is always out doing something crazy when i feed them he scurries upside down across the top of the water and snatches some food and attacks my hand every time I put it in the tank. Come to think of it, I guess they can use the cleaning.
