Question about RO unit?

This is probably a stupid question, and I will probably hear some not so nice responses, but realize that I am tying to save money. Will the Brita filter that you hook on the faucet be the same as an RO unit? Will it help against the algae growth associated with Tapp water?

No, it won't be as good as RO water. The only thing that the brita filter will do is take out most of the chlorine, but not any of the hard metals, phosphates, or nitrates if present. I did that for a while until I had an out break of hair algea. Now I only use RO/DI.

Look on ---- or in the trading/classified section of the SWF BB and you may be able to get a deal.

I agree the brita will remove some things but not nearly as good as a RO/DI filter. Like dsa_mom said check out ----. I got mine off there and I'm very happy with it.
