Question about Seaclone 100 Skimmer

Hi All,
First off let me say great site! I have found out a great deal over the last few days since I first started coming here.
I have a question about setting the venturi on a Seaclone 100 skimmer; according to their manual you are supposed to set it between 3/4 - 1 1/2 turns but I am not able to get it to build foam in this range. This is a used setup I bought this weekend and it worked great until the first time I removed the upper bowl and cleaned it.
Everything is still functioning; I replaced the j-tube seals and the filter again tonight and it has great flow through it. The problem I am having is trying to get it set just right. Does anyone have a pointer or two on how to do this? The person I bought it from set it by sound but I obviously missed something as I am struggling now.
Thanks in advance,
Rob

You have to constantly reset them. The air intake always goes out of wack (sometimes by just looking at it). You want the smallest bubbles you can get going through the system requiring you to tweak it just right (so it can go out of wack again later).

Mine does that after cleaning the collection cup too.Itll be ok once a film starts to build up on the cup tube.Mine works well after opening the airvalve all the way then turned backwards a little. You should see a bubble tornado in the chamber. I removed the foam on the pump. Hope this helps.

Give the seaclone a day or two to start building up foam. I open up mine all the way and then turn back about 3/4 turn

personally from working at an LFS i think seaclones are really bad skimmers and i bought a bak-pak and then berlin turbo. the turbo is my favorite so i hope that helped a little

Thanks for all the feedback everyone,
Being new to this there are probably a lot of "normal" things that will be a concern to me over the next while :)
Again, thanks!

Here's what i do.
Once i clean it or empty the bowl, i open it all the way. Then when closing, you'll see a big air bubble in the bend of the upper tube. Keep turning slowly and as soon as it goes away stop turning.
