Definately go with the 55 for the sump - the bigger the better - you won't be sorry. Measure from the bottom shelf of stand to where the bottom of tank will be. That is the maximum hieght you have to work with. I like 4 inches less than max to work with. Skimmer hieghts vary so check out a few. If you have to turbo "shorty" will work in most cases. Figure out what all you want to put in there and design accordingly. For a return pump I like Quiet One series! Also if your tank isn't drilled think about having it done, you will be much happier than with a U tube type overflow box.
Ok,
I have 26" to work with, if a standard 55 is 21" tall that gives me 5", I will not have the skimmer until a lter date, will I be able to get a skimmer in tha tank after I set it up or will I have to go with a shorter sump?
Sorry if my questions are dumb, still new to all of this.
BTW I had the tank drilled with dual overflows, I have no idea on what size pump to get(I was thinking somewhere between 950 to 1200 gph. Seems like in this hobby if you ask 10 people you get 10 different answers lol.
Thanks for all the help
