Question about sump

There is no set size, the larger the better, Anytime you can increase water volume and stability, its an excellent thing..

OK so basically a 20 would work but a 30 is better? and if i have a 20 gallon sump for a 90 gallon aquarium do i need a heater for 20 gallons or 110?

a 30 would be better because of water volume, get the larger heater, put it in the sump, then regulate temperarture accordingly.. start out at cooler temps,, then raise accordingly to your desired temp..

I would even consider two medium size heaters. that way if one fails you have aback up in the system already so you never have a temperature plunge like you would have if a single heater fails.

i have a 20 long and it works great i made the baffles and everything

i want to take it apart and do it over cuz i dont really like how i did the baffles but it was my first one

I'm not exactly sure what baffles are for but if a 20 works then that answers my question... thanks

The baffles keep bubbles out of your display along with forcing the water to move through the sump as opposed to letting the heavier(colder)water lay on the bottom while the warmer water simply flows over the top. In a tank that size I too would recommend 2 smaller heaters as opposed to one big one.
