I have a 55gal tank
i want to get a few fish in it as i have plenty of inverts and such decorating all my live rock & coral.
i have:
1 purple lobster
a handfull of small hermits
6 turbo snails
1 cleaner shrimp
1 tiger shrimp
2 small orange clown fish (like nemo!) lol
is my tank too small for a yellow tang??
what other fish(s) would make good use to my setup?
any/all suggestions accepted.. thx!!

In my opinion it will not work, others will disagree. It will fit for a little while but it will outgrow the tank, I personally do not belive in purchasing a fish if I am going to have to get rid of it later. A dwarf angelfish such as a flame or bicolor would work nicely and provide much color. I'd keep an eye on your inverts disappearing with the lobster in there.

I wouldnt add the yellow tang if I was you, I made that mistake already. I added the yellow tang first and now it terrorizes anything that I try to add. I HIGHLY recommend not doing it, and if you MUST have a yellow tang, make that the LAST fish you add. If it helps you any, I wish I wouldn't have gotten mine. Hope that helps. Oh yeah, I have a 70 gallon tank.

well ill be the bad guy here then, as for lakerfan they were right about the aggresion. if there first then nothing can go after that, unless same size or bigger. but usually they should be the last one intro'd. as far a the tank size. yes you can. dont over do it, but one yellow tank would be fine.last though

The yt is very territorial and should be the last one added and they REQUIRE ample swimming space minnimum of 75 gal. come on people do your reserch and quit getting fish because there cool you need to have proper accomidations, You would'nt move a family of five into an 800 square foot apt would you HELLLLLOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be nice guys. A 55 is not large enough for any tang. It does not matter if you buy the fish at the size of a quarter. Most tangs, besides the Kole, require a 6 foot long tank. They are extremely active swimmers. Their health declines in poor environments.
