question during hypo

I have a question. I am currently 1 week into my hypo of my main tank 210 fowlr. because i removed all of my snails there isnt anyone to keep the algea in check. Seems like its covering the bottem glass(barebottem), anyway to keep it in check while in hypo mode?
thanks

oh jeez this is bad. because you are doing hypo in your Display and not a QT tank - you are basically killing all of your LS and LR! watch out for a massive ammo spike!

yeah im running them for about 5 hours or so at night when im home.. there isnt any live sand, its a bare bottem tank, however i do have 200 lbs of live rock i left in. I have done a couple of water changes to make sure there isnt any spike. anything else?
thanks

A spike in ammonia is going to based on the amount of life on your rock. Sometimes base rock has such a small number of things on it, the bacteria within the rock can pretty much keep up with it and convert it.
I would reduce your lights even more, and slow down on the feeding if you can. If you have a skimmer, you'll need to increase the bubbles or output to compensate for the reduced salinity. It won't perform at its normal setting and so you have to adjust. This wll also help remove some of the stuff your algae loves.
Last thing...make sure to stay on top of your PH readings. It drops to really dangerous levels and must be adjusted.
Good luck man.
