Question for AW2x3

When do make the jump from feeding a snowflake twice per week to once? I bought the care of Moray Eels book. It talks about going from twice to once, but doesn't really advise when to do so.
Mine is growing, its coloration is bright and always eats on its 2 days. It was about 7-8 inches when I got it, I think it was in September. It is now probably 3 times as thick as it was when I got it, and approximately 18 inches long.
One other question. Is there a way to tell if it is male or female?
Thanks ahead of time for whatever info you can provide.

thats not all your feeding him right? you should be feeding him a variety of silversides, krill, shrimp, squidd, octo fish etc etc.???

I've gotten to the point, now, when I let me Morays tell me when they're hungry...I kid you not.
I'll walk into the room...no one else, just me...and my Whitemouth will come out of the rocks and start swimming around. Someone else can walk into the room and the Whitemouth wont move. If I walk into the room...10 feet away from the tank...the Whitemouth jumps out and starts doing laps. I then know it's time to feed. Whether that be once a week, twice a week, once every two weeks...I know, from having them for so long, that it's my cue to feed.
If the Whitemouth isn't hungry, he wont come out of the rocks. My Dragon eats a little less than my Whitemouth does (sometimes she wont eat at the same time as the Whitemouth, but she'll be ready to eat the next week).
If your Snowflake is eating twice a week, with no problems (not refusing food, etc), then feed it twice a week. It's still a juvenile, so it's gonna eat more and more frequent. At each feeding, feed until it refuses food. They wont eat if they're not hungry.
I also whole heartedly agree with psusocr1. You need to be feeding exactly what he laid out and mix up the diet as much as you can.

I agree my Zebra lets me know when he is hungry on the other hand my young brazilian dragon lets me know when he is not.He comes right to the top allmost every night unless he had a huge meal the prior evening he gets aggressive at feeding time I try to feed him first to cut down on him biting the other fish he is just a swimming stomach.i hope when he gets older he will be more like my ZEBRA.

I do feed it ( I'd still like any advice on how to tell if it is male or female ) krill and silversides mostly, and add in garlic guard every 2-3 feedings. I have also gone out and bought some fresh seafood mix - squid, crap, octo for it to vary things.
Besides the added mess, what opions do you all have on live feeding of small damsels or other feeder fish? I haven't done it yet, and I don't think I will, but I'd like to know what others think about it.

I'm still too new to be saying I could give you any advice, I haven't even been doing this for a year. I would certainly enjoy meeting other Utah members. I go to Birdworld all the time. One day, I will own a tank like their display 500 gal at the front of the store. You can email me at cg_eels@yahoo.com and we can figure out when we can see each other's tanks, or meet at Birdworl etc.

In the above reply to thread, my email does not show the underscore between cg_eels because it was underlined as an email. So, if you want to email me we can figure out whenyou could come see my SFE.

I just wanted all of you have seen my eels questions/comments to know that I will be picking up a 55 gallon tank setup tomorrow. I plan to have my SFE moved into it for my one year anniversary in the hobby- June. ( I'll have to go slower than I will want to due to recent $$ woes, but it will get done slowly over the next few months. )
I'll get pics up as soon as things get going.
