Question for RO/DI unit owners

I am getting ready to purchase an RO/DI, and I keep seeing booster pumps in the accessories. How many of you actually use one of these pumps, and how many of you just hooked the unit up to the water supply? I don't want to order one and find out I'm gonna have to come up with another hundred or two for a booster pump.
Thanks,

All RO/DI units are designed to operate at their best efficiency at a certain inlet water pressure. Most homes that are on city water have pressures within the 50-70 psig range ( use water towers for gain in head )or pumping stations.
Anyways .... if you are on city water - chances are you will not need an auxillary pump for your RO/DI unit.
If on well water or cistern - you may need one depending on your pump/reservoir pressure.
The only way to be sure is to measure your homes water pressure.
Purchase your RO/DI unit, without the pump. Most units come with accessories to attach to a sink faucet. Before attaching - Get a cheap pressure gauge at harware or pool supply store - 100 psig range should do it, and 1/4" or 1/8" FNPT compression fitting adaptor to the 1/4" tubing that comes with the unit. Connect the fitting to gauge and then to water supply. Measure the pressure and compare it to your RO/DI water units desired operating pressure. If you have the pressure - no need for the pump.
If not - the pump will allow the unit to operate better.
Or .... if all of this is too anal retentive, just hope for the best.
Do you have good water pressure at home ?

We are on city water, and The house is less than twenty years old. So I'd guess there's enough pressure. Now, which one to buy......... HMMMM :D I'm going to look for one with a pressure guage built in.
Thanks for clearing this up Broomer.

What would be a good place to get a R/O Unit online. What brand and what features should I be looking for?

They sell some RO units on this site. Check under dry goods section. They have some pretty nice looking units here.
