Question for the Tang Police

What is the minimum size tank that Tang can be in?

I'm not the tang police, but I still know. There r alot of opinions that ppl have so don't just see my answer and say that's completely right. It depends on what kind of tang. Most tangs will be ok in a 100+gallon tank, but it still depends on what kind of tang.

I have 55 and setting up a 125 right now. I was going to see if it was okay to put an achilles in my 55 until my 125 is ready.
What do you guys think?

Not all Tangs are created equal.
For the Achilles, Acanthurus achilles, 125 is the absolute minimum. If you wanted to use your 55 as a hospital tank for a couple of months that should be just fine.

I would say a yellow tang(small in the begining) would be ok
If you notice he is gettting stressed return him though

I have a Yellow tang and I'm thinking about getting a hippo tang, will it be wise to put them together or will they cut each other up

They won't cut up each other, but remember they need a lof of space to swim especially the blue hippo or he can easily get ich....And don't forget to QT if you get a blue hippo they are magnets for ich......I believe you have a tank bigger than 100gl or it......

I believe the "experts" (authors, etc.) agree that most Tangs need a tank that is at least 6 feet long.
