Yep.
Got them from a guy named Rod who lives outside of Chicago.

Sorry for your loss Grog. We sure do get attached to these fish, I had my red spotted blenny go carpet diving on me a week ago and I still feel guilty about not covering that little 2x3" hole at the top of my tank.
Is it possible for the electric current to actually kill the bacteria in the tank and start a new cycle, or was it the dead anemone who sparked the whole thing?

get some carbons on that tank asap this will help remove alot of the toxins given off by the anenome and reduce other chemicals . a good water change may also help .maybe at least try to save what ever is left.very sorry to hear about your delema.

Thanks, already doing that. Not much left in the tank though. A few snails, and the LR and LS is pretty much all that is left. The Poly filters are still coming out bright blue after 24 hours so I know there is more in the tank to get rid of. The cuprisorb is turning dark as well.
I think it was a combination of the anemone dying and the electric charge/copper release that killed a lot of the bacteria off causing the ammonia spike. I'll never know for sure, just know that it is back in cycle again. Lots of the purple coraline algae is looking pale white now as well so I think the copper got that too.

Nope, down to about 0.1 now
The water is nice and clear again. Snails still active, but I did find two dead ones, which I promptly removed. Also looks like cyano is growing on some of the rocks now. I hate cycling!!!

On the bright side, you could always do some aquascaping right now if you wanted to. I know I would move all my rocks around if I had the chance.

Good point, the thing is that I really love where the rocks are right now!!!
Update: My ammonia levels are now up to 3.0!!!! Big water change coming tomorrow.

Wow I don't think I ever had 3.0. Thats one hell of a cycle you got going there, anything else dead ?

I have some purple coraline algae that was purple but is not white also. Is that suppose to be a bad thing? What makes the purple go white?
Thanks!

When it goes white, it is usually dead and leaving the calcium skeleton behind.
Check your water parameters, could be low Calcium, alk or pH problems. A sudden change in light levels like from switching from NO to MH lighting could do it too.
UPDATE:
Did a 20% water change today. Now the Ammonia level is 2.0. Nitrite is still zero and the nitrates are at 5 believe it or not!!

You may want to invest in a GFCI outlet for the tank it would of shut the power off instantly as soon as the heater broke and may have helped with less deaths in the tank

Very good question. I don't know. :notsure:

Going to have to test it to see if it is working properly and replace it if necessary.
