Found out this is a chiton... but can't find if it's good or bad, if I should have it in the refugium or display


and Id for this macro

The chiton eats coralline algae, but they eat such a small amount they are worth keeping in the display because they are cool looking. I have a purple one that blends right in with the algae he eats.

thanx......will he eat pods? or just algae?

No pods, they are way too slow to eat anything that moves. My chiton has a "home" which is a little crater in a piece of rock, he will leave it once a week and sit on a piece of coralline algae that is three inches away for a few days. That small spot of algae will then be completely bare down to the rock, and then he will return to his "home" crater for another week.

How big is your chiton? Mine is about 1.5 cm or a little over half an inch.

it's about two inches... I can stay hours watching him move around the qt tank, he's really cute! thanx for the info...
can anyone id the macro??? :notsure:
