question on my poor fish

im having trouble with my fish. well, i cant keep any alive. so far i have killed a yellow tang, a firefish goby, and a couple percula clowns. basically, all of them started out fine, then started to breath heavy. the clowns, seemed as if their mouths were swollen so much that they could not close them. the tang had some white and brown discolorations, same with the goby. the clowns only lived about a week, the tang and the goby lived about 2. i waited about 3.5 weeks with no fish in the tank. meanwhile, all my inverts, turbos, hermits, brittle star, featherduster, and candy shrimp are all fine, and doing well. my parameters are all in the desired lvl, trates 10,trites 0,amm0 ph8.2, temp 79, salinity 1.024.
anyways, thursday i added a yellow tang, and he slowly started to hide all the time, breathing heavy, stopped eating, and developed a small brown spot on his dorsal fin.
i set up a 10 gal qt with a small filter, light, a rock from the main tank, 9 gallons of water from the main tank. the tang is small, 2.5 inches. im treating with coppersafe. assuming it is a parasite infection. any ideas? am i on the right track??
thanx

Give some more info on the tank itself, aside from the water readings which you provided. Also, what are you using to measure salinity?
Filters? Water Circulation? Age of tank? LR and LS? Details.
Symptoms on the clown do not sound like a parasite problem. Stop using the coppersafe. What are the current symptoms? What are you feeding the tang?
Try hyposalinity which is detailed in the FAQ Thread at the top of the forum and post up more details.
Can you get a pic up?

the tank has been set up since around christmas. i have about 80 pounds of sand, 10 pounds of live rock, and about 55 pounds of base rock
i have a redsea prizim protein skimmer, an aquaclear 500 with no carbon in it, and a maxijet 1200. i have a lot of surface movement.
the current symptoms were that he was hiding alot, and breathing heavy, as well as not eating, and has a brown discoloration on his dorsal fin. i feed flake food, as well as purple seaweed. and there was a variety of algaes in my tank as well.
he seems much better today after being in the hospital tank for 24 hours. he is moving around much more, although skiddish still, his breathing has slowed down, and he seems to be eating small amounts.

could this be because i dont use ro water? or is that not the case keeping in mind that my inverts are all doing well? does that definately mean its a fish disease?
anyone have any advice on this? suggestions?
