Question on Overflow Setup

Hi Guys--
I have CPR Aquatic CS 50 Overflow box on the back of my 55 gallon tank. I just got the nessescary hardwear to set up my sump system and get everything running as of a couple days go. Over the course of the last few days I have had to stop, and restart the syphon as air as gotten into the overflow box and makes a terrible racket. The syphon is good usually for about 6 hours and then it starts to make some loud gurgling noises. There is an air tub connected from the top of the unit that runs to the sump itself. That is where you draw your air from to actually start the syphon.

There is an accessory available for the overflow box called a LifterDosing pump. It can be used to start the syphon. Has anyone ever used something like this before? Is it really just a pump that is going to draw air to start the syphon, or do these types of pumps prevent air from entering the syphon and creating that loud noise?
Any help or assitance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can use the pump you mentioned to start and keep air purged from the o/f box. You could also use a powerhead such as a maxi-jet or you could do like I did after much frustration and worry about floods, etc. and drill your tank for an overflow mounted inside the tank.
