question on protein skimmer

yea i just set up a 55 gallon fish only with live rock and was wondering if i needed a protein skimmer on it

I would look into a protein skimmer. You would not believe the stuff that it takes out of you water. I have a 46 gallon tank with a remora skimmer and it works great.

not needed for several weeks to a month after you introduce livestock. Not a life and death decision not to get one at all, but once you see the skimate-green/slimey/smelly goo that it pulls out of the water you will swear by it. Ha!
