how long has you tank been set up for? i personally think that if it hasent been up long you shouldnt jump into corals right away but thats just my thinking

You may want to consider holding off on adding any expensive corals to a newly cycled tank. Maybe let it mature a month or two first, then add begin to add corals.
This is my opinion and what I've done with my tanks.
Salinity of 32 to 36 parts per thousand is considered good for reef tanks.
30 ppt =
1.022 sp. gr. at 60 F
1.021 sp. gr. at 70 F
1.019 sp. gr. at 80 F
35 ppt =
1.026 sp. gr. at 60 F
1.025 sp. gr. at 70 F
1.023 sp. gr. at 80 F
I keep my reef tanks around 1.024 sp. gr. at 78 F

A friend gave me a ear of leather coral, which I put in my tank 2-3 weeks before my cycle was done. Today looking healthy and happy.
