Question on shop vacs

I guess they also called wet vacs. I'm referring to the vaccuum cleaners that you can suck up water with. Can these only be used to pull liquids up from something like a rug or can you you use one to actually suck water out of something? I wan't to vaccuum out my fountain in front of my house and it is full of water. I also want to suck all the water out of my fuge the next time I do a water change and get all the gunk out of it. Are these good for that or is that too much water at one time.

Yes it can suck water out you will just have to keep emptying it out.I used mine to drain my tank after my leak test.

Mine is the rigid and if you remove the inside filter you can suck up pure water...I mean, all liquid. It's about a 2.5 gallon though. Take a lot of trips to the sink to empty, lol
But why not use one of your tank pumps instead?? You know you have spares...EVERYBODY has spares..Hook it up to your garden hose...

You may be able to take the canister off and just use it as a pump so you don't have to worry about filling then emptying the canister. I don't know, but you might be able to do that. I guess it also depends on how far you have to move the water. You prolly don't want to stand in a puddle while you finish vacuuming.

That's good to hear. The main reason I don't want to use the pump is it doesn't get the stuff of the bottom. I want to scrape the sides of my sump and then vaccuum all the water and gunk out. Sounds like it will work fine then. Now I just need to go buy one.
