Question on Southdown Avalibility

Hello All,
First off I'd like to say hi to everyone and thank everyone for the wonderful and informative information within these boards.
I received a 125 gallon tank, lights, hood and stand for christmas and and going to setup my first saltwater tank.
I think I'm going to go with sand over CC but the prices at the LFS are insane. I've tried 3 home depots in MN and ND, Lowel's, Menards and all the local hardware stores but all anyone has is the Quickcrete brand of brown sand. I'd really like to find some white non silica type sand if possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction to see about getting some Southdown or something similar in MN or the surronding region?
Thanks,
Dred

It is also called yardright.
I would use sand also. The CC will just cause you problems later down the road.
Did you get a skimmer or any other filtration with the tank?
What kind of lights did you get?
I would bite the bullet and get good sand and possibly live sand.
SWF.com has good sand.
Good luck with your tank!

At this point all I have is the tank, hood, lights and stand. I was planning on doing southdown or yardright if I could find it along with a few bags of LS. I'm still looking for a place to get good live rock but haven't decided where I'll go yet. Probably here as it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the LFS. I've been hitting all the LFS's getting my list of equipment together today. Still need to decide on brands of filter, skimmer, etc... any suggestions for a newbie? :)
Thanks,
Dred

One thing I do know is if I can't find the southdown then I'm going to buy from here. HD tried to sell me a brown quickcrete brand but I want to make sure I set this up right the first time.

The farther north you go the more it seems its availability is a seasonal thing, so instead of asking if a particular store has it in stock maybe track down a manager and try to find out if they plan on ordering it come spring.
Also are there any reef clubs in your area? Maybe one of the members has extra to sell or they might know where to buy some. HTH

I'll give that a shot. I know ToysRus said they would have some this spring but I'm sure it's silica based. I'm going to talk to my LFS and see if there is a club where I'm at. I'm not sure was resources are avalible in MN as I'm new to the saltwater hobby.
My brother in law is sitting in Florida today and was going to go looking for me before he makes the trip back.
