Question can a Clear plexi tube be bonded to PVC via the PVC glue?
I want to know b4 I try it and ruin it. If not what can I use that would be salt water friendly and survive 520+Gph?

I have experience with acrylic and pvc, but have not personally bonded the two together. I did see the "handiwork" of a friend, who did it with cpvc adhesive, and I was not particularly impressed with his rusults. If I was going to do it, I'd invest in something like weld-on 40, or another product that's made for the particular application.

Can you get that from the Local Hardware store or is that a pre order?

I have used Weld-on #16 to bond arcylic and PVC but in very limited use. I'm not sure I would trust anything under pressure.........

Thoughts on this?
Force what are you trying to do? It would be easier to know what application we're talking about.
In my case, I just used it to glue a acrylic cup to a pvc riser for my skimmer. Just needed to hold skimmate. Now its been about 5 years and I doubt that even if I tried I couldn't pull it apart.....

Well What I will be doing is this
I want to attach a Closed toilet flange (PVC) with coupling to a Clear piece of 3"x12" acrylic tube
If you can see if a small piece will bond that would be great!.
Thank you ahead of time.

OK will do. But I think you'll be good. You have a bunch of surface area for the glue. #16 doesn't dry to fast so you should be able to get it together w/o it setting.
What are you using to cap the closet flange. Looked at those when I was building my skimmer b/c I liked the foot. Just couldn't figure out how to seal it....

Thanks for answering guys!
I honestly don't know. I'm a traditionalist, meaning PVC with PVC only, CPVC with CPVC only, Acrylic with Acrylic only... yadda yadda yadda...
If you want clear PVC parts, here's a pretty good site: (I know for a FACT that this website does NOT compete with swf.com)
http://www.clearpvcpipe.com/
I'm fixin' to put in an order so I can build my protein skimmer and DIY calcium reactor...

Snake why PVC over acrylic. Is there a big price difference?
As for gluing unlike materials. I would tend to agree but in certain cases I think it will work. If it were a butt joint and had pressure I wouldn't recommend it but in this case I think you're fine.

Yes, I think I am going to try it. I'm waiting for the guy to post on there saying that his maxijet powerheads locked up and burst. :D
Also, I am going to do a double chamber reactor with two maxijet pumps.

Yes, I believe it is the cost. one 5' tube of 1/8" thick 3" pipe is about $80 whereas 10' of 3" clear PVC tubing is $126,... you can get two or three projects done at the same time, and you can put everything under pressure.
