I have an 8g nano tank and was wondering if anyone knows how to keep the alge from getting on the light cover..... It has a lid and attached to it is the lighting system I do monthly water changes and water top offs but it seems like with in a few days of a water change the alge that starts to grow on the filter gets on the light cover and makes my tank look nasty...... I scrape it off but dang seems like I have to do it every day...... I have started not turning on the light till I get home and that seems to keep it down some just wish there was a way to keep it off the light cover.....

Algae needs water so how is the water getting on the light cover?

When it filters back through I can't really explain it maybe I need to post a pic but when the water comes up to be filtered and gets squirted on the pads they grow alge and right over these pads is the light but it has a plastic cover on it ..... When I lift the lid the light shines right in my face and the filtration system is right below it so every time I close the lid part of the light cover gets alge on it...... Hope that makes since
