how long should i run my lights.
current lighting times(each light has its own timer):
atinic: 8:30 am-9:30 pm(13 hours)
10,000k(daylight):9 am-9 pm(12 hours)
moon lite: all day and night
so my question is, should i change my lighting times at all? if so, how? i have a slight algea break-out if that plays a role with lighting. thanks guys :help:

I'd turn your moonlight off once your other lights started coming on .... my lighting cycle is as follows:
PC comes on @ 9:30 and goes off @ 8:00 (10.5 hours)
VHO's come on @ 11 AM and go off @ 6 PM (7 hours)
Thinking of adding one more ballast and have just one 50/50 bulb run a bit longer than the other 2 ...

Mine are approx 10 hrs for daylight, and 12 for actinic..I would experiment though. Look for other causes of nutrients, overfeeding, not freq water changes, no skimmer, too many fish, sunlight coming in through windows (wrong spectrum of light)..

I run mine from 11:30 a.m. till 11:00 p.m.. When I add my new lighting setup I will run the actinics from 11:30 a.m. till 11:30 p.m. Daylights 12:00 p.m. till 11:00 p.m.

i only run mine for seven hours from about 4:00pm to 10:00 pm because of algae growth

Trigger that is only 6 hours by your the time you posted. I think a reef needs more than 6 hours I say anywhere from 8-12 is perfect...
