Questions about live rock received in the mail...

Today I received 45 pounds of LR. I put all of it in my 30g Q-Tank (never medicated). My questions are...
How much and how often should I add to my 125g? One piece every other day?
Do I need to keep the lights on or off in the Q-Tank?
Should I do a water change in the Q-Tank if I see an ammonia spike or should I just let it run it's course?

Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in but I will say this. When I got 50lbs live rock via airmail the cycle went like this:
day1 - normal levels
day3 - slight increase in ammonia
day5 - back to normal (no water change)
It was a painless. The lr was healthy, purple/pink, and still damp when I received it. After any die off is over it should be safe to move to your 125g tank.

Well it depends, you should start adding water into the 30 from the 125, just do a 30 gal water change and add all the water into the LR tank, and wait about id say 2 weeks to be safe, after that, add about a 1/3 to your tank, the next week, the next 1/3 then the next the rest. When i got my 45 lbs air mail, i added it all at once, and BOOM everything died because of a recylcle (damn)

i'd do it slowly...also, do water changes in ur hosp. tank. Make sure there is a good power head in the tank with the rocks and a skimmer would be helpful but that's not as important as a powerhead if ur doing water changes.

Just checked the ammonia level after only 24hrs. WOW!!! I've never seen it that dark. Anyway, I went ahead and changed the water.
