I here people often mention running carbon, well I have a few questions:
1. When they say run what do they mean? What do they run it from? Etc.
2. Why do they run it?
3. Pros and Cons?

most powerfilters, have an area where you can put carbon into the filtration. that is how you run it.
Why you use it is to remove any impurities from the water or bad chemicals that may have gotten in there. You can run it to clear y our water up a bit as well.
I run carbon once a month to freshen up the water.

I've asked the same question and I believe that Thomas posted two great links to some super information about the benefits. Try doing a search for carbon and I'm sure that you will find them.

Carbon absorbs impurities in the water. Stick it anywhere in your filtration where water will be flowing through it. I wish i knew more as to what it absorbed such as calcium or anthing else beneficial....
