Some clowns perfer specfic anemones. I would find out which anemone your clowns would like. I've read in books and the internet, if your clowns were tank raised, they might not use the anemone. check out here and marinedepotlive to see what anemone would be compaitable. I've been doing a lot of research for my tank, and the clowns you got are ones that I want. I was going to get a Bubble Tipped Anemone Entacmaea, once my tank was matured and set up properly, with the right lighting.

I've got a conda anemone that has done well under 240watts pc, but I think other types need more lighting. My two perc clowns don't pay it any attention, but they have made a couple of patches of long hair algea that I let grow to the size of an anemone their home. They hang out in it all the time, sometimes you can't even see them in it. Pretty neat to watch.:happyfish

research, research, and more research
most anemones do not live longer than 6 months in captivity, because they are not cared for properly, very sad with an animal that has a lifespan over 1000 years, if I remember correctly

Carpet is out of the question in a 55 IMO. Bubble tip might be alright.
What is your wattage and k rating of bulbs please?

I have the 4X65 watt Orbit moonlight..Its exactly like the ones CSL made...Im not sure what the ratings are on my actinics...i just got this light like 2 months ago and the bulbs are the ones that came with the unit..I've seen on alot of sites while doing research for this that pc lights are fine for anemones..but i want the opinions of true hobbyist that live and die for this hobby....I have not had any kind of death in my tank for almost 8 months now and i dont want to do anything stupid to jeopardize any livestock.. For the first time in my life im finally being patient....lol. thanks everyone and have a great holiday weekend
