questions on frag tanks and coral propogation.

1) is it possible to do both kinds of corals in a tank? lps and sps successfully?
i think my plans are to do a 40 breeder. i will either do that, or its twin in acylic.
i would like an overflow with two bulkheads and two return pipes on each end of the tank.
2) what is the purpose of using eggcrate? so detrius doesnt build up easy on the bottom? i plan on hopefully attaching things to live rock rubble... what other options do i have then other than eggcrate? or would i still use eggcrate?
3) would it be better to split the tank in two sections for the lighting? half 250w metal halides, half T5's so i can cater to different kinds of corals? even though they will all be in the same water.
4) what other equipment is needed? just a skimmer? and some strong pumps?
5) is cutting corals like anenomes and rics really that easy? just cut down the middle with a scapel making sure you get some of the mouth?

as far as lighting on a 40 breeder... with the T5's... to just do half of the tank... is
24" Retrofit: 2-24W T5 HO Fluorescents
enough, or would i be better off going with 4-24w bulbs?
i will probably do either a 150w or 250w DE HQI bulb in 14k, maybe even 10k if i can get more growth out of it.

well you dont frag anemones..They are not coral. You slice it down the center and its probably going to die.

I wouldnt cut a bubble tip in half, but I would cut a discosomas mushroom anemone in half or quarters.
