Ok I know there is ALOT of posts on this subject but I really dont have the time to look through them with a baby and all..(very demanding haha) but anyways...
My 10 gallon tank has ich
I took every thing out except the gravel (it was all plastic and was coated in this white powder lookin stuff anyways)
My Domino (RIP) got it so quick..it took him with in a few hours so obviously its been there for awhile with no signs.
I walked in the room and saw my Yellow Tang picking at one of Dominos fins like trying to eat it...im not sure if he got any down but if he did could this affect him in another harmful way?
Well as of today my yellow tang is still eating and swimming around and has a few spots (not nearly as bad as Domino [that was his name. RIP little buddy])
Yesterday I started using Ich Away (stuff in a grey bottle and the lable purple)
Does anyone know anything about this stuff?
Is there anything more I can be doing?

Hey Sarah -
You will find almost everything that you need if you check the FAQ at the top of the disease & treatment forum.

if you have no inverts or corals you can use that stuff... is it the stuff that turns the wter blue? It works.... it's hard on anything other than the fish.. but it will clean it up..
If you have corals or inverts use Chem Marine Stop Parasite...
or you can do the hyposalinity if you want to...
personally I like the stuff above... works fast...

If one fish in the tank has ich, then you can count on all the fish in your tank having ich. You have a yellow tang in a 10 gal tank? That is totally inappropriate for this fish. You could say, it is doomed in 10 gal tank.
I don't want to sound like a harpie, but the truth to the matter is that this hobby does take a lot of time and effort. If you do not have time for this, then get out of the hobby. You obviously have not done enough research to begin a tank.
Please take this as a hard core hobby information, and not as a flame.

Well Beth...I know that a 10 gal tank is to small..that is why i just went last night and got a bigger tank..And excuse me...but I dont need you telling me to get out of this hobby because I messed up once..I find that VERY rude and take offense to it. So next time I think you should keep comments like that to yourself.
Thank you.

I agree with you Sarah. True, you are new to the hobby and have seem to have made mistakes. Trust me, we all have. But many people on here act as if you need our permission to be a part of this hobby. In this hobby, we don't need to be elitists. I think that if you have an interest, that's great. Just because you have some things to learn doesn't mean that you won't get the hang of maintaining a successful aquarium.
Telling a stranger what hobbies they should take part in is kind of like advising people what kind of car they should drive or whether or not they should have kids. Sarah came here to ask questions about how to keep fish, not to ask people whether she should get involved in the hobby. To suggest that she's not suitable to keep saltwater fish is inappropriate. JMO.

THANK YOU!
And her being a MOD and all...IMO she should be supportive and try to get people into this...not put them down and tell them to get out of it..but thats just my opinion

Don't take me wrong, but I believe BETH is not tellin her what kind of hobby she should enjoy or not, she is just stating that SWF needs a lot of research before you start this hobby......And I believe she is right, if you don't have time and knowledge why waste your time starting something without knowing what you going to do.......Is true we all make mistakes on everything we do, but mistakes can always be prevented with a little knowledge and will power. Knowing something before you start is the key for a successful path, not only on SWF, but on everything on life.
And I am pretty sure that if she researched a little bit more, she wouldn't put a YT inside a 10gl.
You are right we are all here to give opinions and help each other out and not chew on one another, but you have to understand that BETH is here to help and not judge others, I am pretty sure without her in this forum, many fishes would be DEAD by now and people would still be trying to find out what to do in cases like this.
I got flamed many times when I started and I made a lot of mistakes, but could this mistakes be prevented, YES, IT COULD. If I had a little bit more of knowledge and had researched SWF, I could had prevent many mistakes that I made. Sometimes getting flamed and even strong statements from someone else may help you in many ways. Don't take it personal, just take as a advise from people that have a lot of experience in this hobby.
