Questions on my New Aqua C

Well I just got my Aqua C remora Pro and im getting ready to hook it up but I had a few questions regarding its setup. The Unit itself is bare inside, I was a little shocked and confused. Ive never had a protien skimmer until now. Ive been using an Old Hang on Filter with the carbon and filter rectangle sheets that you slide in.
With Live rock is there no need to run carbon with a protien skimmer or any type of filter media?
EDIT: Also where about do u guys place the o-ring around collection cup? Bottom? halfway? top?

the inside of the skimmer is a set of baffles so the smallest amount of bubbles get into your tank.
you'll have to adjust the oring so you get a semi wet skimmate. just fiddle with it. if your skimmate is too clear, it is too high. not getting much? it's too low. just bubbling and producing a nice brown liquid and nastiness is sticking to the middle tube? perfect.
you can always run carbon. it takes more stuff out than the live rock and the skimmer will get--such as poisons and other nasty stuff

thanks
, well that answers a few questions. Here is a few more.
1.) How and where and what kind of carbon media would I run though?
2.) Would You Recomend It?
3.) So will the collection cup will basically catch everything that my Polyester media collected?

I think you're a little confused about what the skimmer is for. It's not meant to take the place of mechanical/chemical filtration. I have a Remora on my 29, but I also have a small Aqua Clear HOB powerfilter where I can run carbon and other filter media. If you want, you can get the prefilter box for the Remora and run filter media, like a bag of carbon, in the return half of the box.

i think the CoolCatAvatarMan is correct.
there's a difference with the filtrations. basically protein skimmers skim... proteins. like fat and stuff the fish poop out, the nastiness that comes out of live rock, and a whole bunch of insanely smelly disgusting stuff that you don't want to sniff (although, you will...)
if you look at https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/264780/sump-fuge-size/80#post_2107035
i have my carbon sock and phosphate sock in the final baffle.

Ok thats what I needed to know, I just remember when I 1st joined up here and I was asking about Protien skimmers Alot of people were saying that "The Protien Skimmer and LR are all the filtration you will need" Thats why i was kinda confused.
Ok so running carbon & Poly filters are good but not necessary? Is that what they ment?
But I probably should include Mechanical, Chemical, and Bio Filtration along with my skimmer is because their all different types is what your saying, right?

not necessary but still a good idea. i do though think that running the poly filter before my chaeto was not letting enough nutrients get to the chaeto. but now i notice my filter on my return pump is getting full of the brown stuff that used to get stuck in my poly filter. so... now i gotta figure something out

Yea i would like to Keep my Media Filter also going with the Aqua C But im pressed for space As I do not have a sup and my tank has a HOB refugium that takes up 1 half and now the skimmer will be on the other half,
My only choice here will be a very aqua clear filter. Or maybe a really small HOT canister filter. thanks guys for all the help and info.

Some may say that. In fact, a protein skimmer isn't necessary. Really, live rock or some sort of biomedia is all the filtration you really need. But if you want to trap particles and keep the water crystal clear, then mechanical and chemical filtration are also recommended, at least part of the time.
