hey everyone...I just set up a 40 gal reef. I've read and read and read for hours and still have a couple of un answered questions.
-I have a 130 watt power compact Coral Life light with LED moonlights
-what will this sustain? (hard corals, soft corals, nothing? )
-whats the difference between a hard coral and a soft coral :notsure: ?
-I have 1 aquaclear 50 powerhead.
-Is this enough?, do I need more water flow?
-I have a prizm skimmer with 30 lbs of lr and 40 lbs of ls.
Is this enough filtration?
-I messed up and used tap water..
.should I get it out and start over with R/O?
I really want a clown trigger, but hear they are not reef safe.BUT! I've seen pics and vids of clown triggers in reef tanks. :help:
I'm sorry in advance for all the questions.Thank you so much for all you do!

-Mat :happyfish

You could definately have softies under those lights, some kinds of LPS too. A clown trigger will get way to big to keep in a 40. Most people recommend 125+ gallons to keep one. What's th GPH on the powerhead? 10-15 GPH per gallon is usually good for softies.

The powerhead pumps 270 GPH.
Is there anything else i need/need to know?
How big of a fish is acceptable for a 40 gal?and how many?
Thank you so much!

A coral beauty or flame angel would be good in there. Maybe a royal gramma, Banggai Cardinals... Just some ideas.
