when feeding filter feeders and corals, should i turn my fiter off? i dont have a skimmer so no worries there, but will my filteration filter the phytoplankton out? if i should shut it off, how long should i shut if off for? how many of you shut ur filters off and how many of u dont?
just got a frogspawn frag today at tong's. the frag is about 2 inch in diameter when fully open. i have it wedge between a circular hole that is in my live rock. my question is will this frag attach itself onto the live rock or will i have to always make sure it dont some how fall out of its current hole? also, i got this frag for only 10 dollars. is this too expensive or is this a great deal? its very healthy. it was wide open when i picked it out. when i brought it back, it was somewhat closed up, but it is now wide open again for the last two hours. what do you guys think? as always..thanks to all of you in advance =)

Ten bucks for a froggy frag isn't too steep. Is the frag not connected to a hard skeleton? Froggy probably just needed a little time to adjust to the water..........I know I usually do.
I used to turn off my filters when dosing the tank with phyto. Now I guess that I have grown lazy but, I now feed the corals with the filters on..........corals seem to still be thriving. I actually like the way the powerheads mix the phyto up into the water.

Turning off any filtration during phyto feeding certainly helps increase probability of food getting captured instead of getting filtered. Powerheads, however, need not be turned off because current produced by them helps in the process of food dispersal.
