Seeking for an LFS in the Massachusetts area that supplies reef tanks (lr,ls,fish,equipment,etc...). Also, is it possible to just run a tank with just live rock in it? Will I need to add live sand if i dont plan on stocking the tank for a few months? Will the live rock convert regular sand into live sand with time? What would be a decent setup for a budget minded, bare bones setup like this? I've been keeping freshwater fish for some time so I feel I'm ready for the jump :). Thx to anyone that replies. P.S. - I would like to thank anyone that is involved or directly affected by the war on terrorism. I know by reading many posts, that there are alot of Brits and Yanks that use these boards. My family's thoughts go out to the soldiers and loved ones that are fighting to keep our countries safe and free.

Welcome to the board!:) I don't know of any LFS in Mass., but I can answer your LR question. Yes, in time your LR will seed your regular sand into live sand. Just keep in mind that the sand you use should not contain any silicates. Best of luck with your tank. Post some size/space/budget requirements and I'm sure this board will help you with a great set-up.

We are all directly affected by the war on terrorism. Welcome to the board, and like hooked on reefs stated, LR will seed a sand bed.
