quick coralife RO/DI intstal question

before putting the membrain into the stop it goes in, am i supposed to rinse it? im really not sure what they mean. am i supposed to run theunit for 2 hours and not use any of the water? im really unsure. and it says not to let it sit dry...what do i do when im not running the unit? do i have to take them membrain out? please help! thanks

What do the directions say? Do they say you have to rinse it? I don't have that unit but if you give me the model I could look it up for you.

pure flow II 50 gpd. thanks alot...i cant figure out what to do and i dont want to damage it

I have the same unit and no you dont have to rinse it. But you do have to rinse the carbon cartridge.
Hook it up and let it run til you run til you get about 10 gallons out of it, throw that out and check your tds. at this point it should be zero.
when you shut off the unit you leave the membrane in , unless you are not going to use it for 30 days or more.
Read over the instructions really well, it tells you how to care for the membrane...

when i rinse the carbon should i take it out of the unit and rinse it in the sink. or just hook this whole thing up and let it run and that will take care of the carbon and membrain getting rinsed?

rinse the carbon cartridge in the sink before operating the unit
the membrane does not need to be rinsed

well my girlfriends dad plumbed it to the water line before i even woke up...he didnt rinse the carbon...is this bad? the unit has been running for 2 hours now but just going down the drain. he said it doesnt matter about the carbon. is this gonna mess anything up
