So my 120g is going on about 8 years now and I did have a crash after about the 5th year but that is another story. During those 5 years, I was doing 10-12g water changes about 2 a month. Once I got back into getting the tank going again (after many changes), I made the decision to not do water changes and that has been about 17 months ago. The tank is doing well and I only have 4 fish in it so there isn't a lot of waste being produced and I don't overfeed when I do feed.
Anyway, even though things are doing well, I was wondering if it would benefit the tank any if I did about a 5g water change every couple of weeks. The change wouldn't be for lowering nitrates or removing waste but more for adding some fresh trace elements. So what do you think, would there be a benefit fo doing this sort of small water change or would I just be wasting my time?
Thanks.
