I have been washing the carbon in a sock for the past 15 min now, but water is still black tainted. Is it okay n ow to put it in my wet/dry canister filter?
how are you suppose to wash it and until how clean?
I wash my carbon under running tap water in a sock until the water looks at least some what clear. This usually takes me about 30 seconds or less. There will always be a slight tint, and after 15 minutes I think it is ok to put it in the filter.
You may be washing it out too hard, and the carbon is rubbing against each other, sort'a like sandpaper on wood. Otherwise, if the water is still coming out very dark I'd say toss it out.
