ok, i just made a sump out of a ten g tank for another tank im setting up. on the bottom of the tank some one wrote "leak" so i covered the old silicon with a new layer. will this hold up long term? as of right now it is holding but i dont wanna put it under the tank and then find out its leaking a week later and have to take apart the tank to pull it out. im using the AGA silicon. thanks

It'll work long term if you use a razor and cut away all of the old silicon before adding a new bead of silicon to the edge.

Try filling it up. It's only a 10g tank.
Reason I say is that lots of manufacturers sell "leakers" that they designate as such because the silicon is not perfect. That may be why it's marked like that.
Usually though the imperfections are minor and the tank holds water just fine. I've never bought a leaker that actually leaks.

If you can I would but I don't think you have to. What's the old adage... it's not worth doing unless it's done right. Something like that.

If it were me I would toss the tank and buy a new one. Murphy's Law states that the tank will begin to leak the instant you leave the house and will dump the maximum amount of saltwater on your hardwood floor over the next 9 hours while you're at work.
