There is no problem at all with 8.4. I wouldn't do a thing, it will drop naturally on its own. What is your alkalinity and calcium?
FWIW, rapid attempts to change calcium, alkalinity or pH can have dramaticly bad impacts on your tank. Just leave it be, IMO. What is the pH of your freshly mixed saltwater?

calcium is unknown.....alkalinity between 240-300...
i see now on my test strip that ph is 8.4 and ideal....as well i think my alkalinity is alright at the moment....you think?

I wish I my tank can stay at 8.4 for PH naturally.
I have to add buffer every once awhile to get it up to 8.2
8.4 is good.

8.6 is getting on the high side, but there are many variables:
What kind of test kit?
Has the test been verified using another kit or at the LFS.
What time of day did you test?
How old is the tank?
What is your alkalinity/calcium
Did you recently add any buffers, additives, etc?
Did you recently do a water change?

marine lab is the test kit
lfs says its ok
test taken at noon
alk is a littel low
calcium is 400
tank is a year old
added aragamilk and purple up after test
water change on monday
another question, how do you raise alk without raising ph? everything i have read in the stores says it raises both.
