I have two yellow tail Damsles that I bought to help cycle my tank. Now im looking to add a couple of clowns will they be ok together or not get along?

they should be ok, but i would recommend rearranging the rocks so that they all have a chance to pick their spots. otherwise, the ever territorial damsels could cause some problems. if the clowns are a lot bigger than the damsels i think you would have less problems with them sorting out who is in charge.

Re-arranging could work but later on the new fish still get picked on. When you acclimate, remember to turn your lights off. It helps to decrease stress for the newcomers and your old fish won't be picking on the newcomers under darker atmosphere. The only way that your new fish won't get picked on is to ditch the damsels.

i disagree. if the clowns are larger than the damsels, there shouldn't be a problem. it really depends on what kind of clowns you are thinking of getting. some are very passive, where as others are more aggressive. if you want to keep the damsels, i would recommend getting gold striped maroons or tomato clowns. just my opinion.

We just added 2 percs to our recently cycled tank, one black & white and one false. The tank already had 2 lemon damsels, which are totally peaceful, and one MEAN pink damsel. So far the pink damsel has left the percs alone. He is slightly smaller than both of them & he keeps his distance. He still picks on the lemon damsels, tho. I'd like to get the pink one out & return him to the lfs, but I feel guilty :nope:

I don't find the size of fish really matter much. A small size damsel can stress out a much larger tang. It bases on the fish natural behavior IMO.:happyfish
