Hello guys, i just have a quick question, so i have a 55 gallon glass aquarium with no where to really put.. I have 2 night stands that are 22inches long so i spread them apart sp that they could equal 48 inches in length together. This would create a 4 inch gap in the middle. Would the tank break down the middle or crack? Or would it be better to bring the 2 nightstands more together creating a 2 inch hangoff on both sides?

how bout 1 inch in the middle and 1.5 on the ends ;)

I guess I would personally get something the right size but if I absolutely had to I would hang it over the ends just my opinion:)

What Imforbis said.

Be careful with this though since it's a glass aquarium. Be sure that both night stands level up the same. The worst thing you can do to a glass aquarium is twist it.

Most tank stands are mostly hollow with a brace in the middle and, of course, the frame. As what was said above, use a level to make sure that the tank is perfectly level once it's placed on the stands. Also, the height of the tank on the stands may not be all that appealing since its not eye level. No hang over the sides, IMO, and a sturdy custom fit plywood would be the best fix. You could do a paint job on the stands and plywood to match up and make things look all nice.
