We can certainly agree to disagree (we love that about this hobby, eh?
). When I said differentiator, I meant that the process of spray injection differentiates the AquaCs from other skimmers by way of the mechanical process employed. There are certainly other processes (e.g., needle wheel, venture…you know the drill) that are effective. Ultimately, it often comes down to personal preference, does it not?
Nonetheless, in a comprehensive test performed last spring, the AquaC EV 180 outperformed the other skimmers in its class in terms of both quantity and quality of skimmate. Does that mean that the AquaC is "the best" skimmer? Of course not. It simply means that in that test on that specific system it outperformed the other skimmers in its class. Since then I have moved all my systems over to AquaC, and I've been very happy. That is obviously anecdotal and should be taken with a grain of salt. Again, I'm not suggesting that what I'm saying is Gospel--I'm just sharing my own experience.
By the way, I just cranked up two remoras on two new small systems, and I have been pleased to date. What are your concerns about the Remoras? Any data or anecdotal information would be much appreciated, as I will be writing about these systems, and I'd like my assessment to be as comprehensive as possible.
Have a good one!
