currently i have 0 astrea snails... i have some mexican turbo snails. what is the difference? besides the size and appearence. do they do the same thing?
and will astrea snails eat hair algae? thanks!
They eat the same thing. Astrea can get to more places but mine seem to fall pretty often and die. Most Mexican turbos don't usually live to long in reef tanks. The temps are higher than where they are from.
atreas imo seems to be more active than my turbos and they do stay a little smaller. i have had very good success with my turbos by acclimating them very slowly over 3 hrs, i have some that are over 3 yrs old.
Rule of thumb for mexican turbos is 1 per every 20 gallons,as most tanks can't sustain enough food for them to last very long.
Give emerald crabs a shot at the hair algae.
i have an emerald crab.... but he doesnt do jack crap lol... lazy just like me. i plan on getting atleast 3 more and 20 astrea snails. i just have to wait for my bak pak 2 to get here =)
