R.I.P. Captain Phil Harris

Captain Phil Harris from the T.V. show Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel passed away late last night from complications after suffering a stroke last month. Anyone that watched this show knows how hard these guys work and what they go through to put king crab legs on the market. This guy was one of the lucky ones that got to do the job with his boys, which I am sure that they will never forget. Of all the boats that they followed on this show, the Cornelia Marie was my favorite because of the family feel that you got from them.
Rest In Peace Captain Phil, you will be missed by many!

Awwwww, that's too bad. My family are fisherman and I use to go to my families island during summer holidays. DANG they work hard. They were up at the crack of dawn in the worst canadian weather, and spent the day dealing with their catch and working on their equipment. It's a hard life, but my peeps wouldn't have it any other way.

, love that show!!! I knew he had a stroke and was not doing well.
I wish he didn't smoke as much as he did though. That job is sooo stressful.
rip Phil

I really liked that guy, it's really sad. He worked one of the most dangerous jobs on Earth and gets killed by little white sticks

Rest in Peace Phil. He was one of the good guys. Did you all know his hobby was building bird houses? They are awesome.

That sucks, that was my favorite boat too. He reminded me of one of my salty old bosses. Who shaved with saltwater...

The guy knew his health was as big a risk as his occupation. Went out doing what he loved, can't fault him for that. RIP

He and the Hillstrands are my favorite captains. He had a VERY close call before.
Anyone know when the next season starts?

I was devestated when I heard the news this morning, I hope his boys hang in there and come out ok from the loss.
Phil's pulling a never ending string of red gold now.
Rest easy big guy.

Sounds like I'm missing out on a good show, need to get cable I guess. I think I'll buy a new coral instead, plus it's hard enough trying to get money from my roomie for bills as it is.

One positive thing that they can take from this is that they decided early enough to see what their father was all about and were able to do what he loved right alongside him. Hopefully they continue to do this, assuming that they love it as much as their father did. At least the stroke happened during an offload and he was able to get the medical attention...I couldn't imagine how horrible this could have been if they had been out in the middle of the Bering Sea when it happened.

They came pretty damn close last season when he had that blood clot hit his lung. He dodged a bullet that day.

Yeah I agree, at least with it happening in a hospital they got to spend more time with their dad before he passed.
I think Josh will come out stronger, but Jake might go down a bad road if he doesn't have someone to lean on. He is still such a young guy and probably does not have everything figured out, which is always harder to deal with when a parent passes away.
