I don't believe I've seen many people post pics of dead fish around here, and I'm sorry to be one of the few, but I need an i.d. on a fish I got at an lfs. I got a positive i.d. on it and am hoping to get an alternative name for it. It's VERY hard to find, and I haven't seen one quite like it before. Unfortunately it starved to death after about a week or so.

If I had to guess I would say the genus is Halichoeres. My first thought was Halichoeres ornatissimus (the ornate wrasse) but I'm not so sure.

It's supposed to be a male african leopard wrasse. I bought the female (blue star) african, and I already had a female cook island. But the more research I did, the colorings look increadibly similar to the male version from the cook islands. I can't understand how the african female can differ so much from the cook female, but the 2 males can look so similar.

I find the male is near impossible to find. If anyone comes across one or knows of where to get one I'd appreciate a heads up. My two females are lonely without him. :D
