R.O. Holding tank help.

I purchased an R.O. unit last year and its definatly a great investment. Not only for water changes but also drinking water.
Anyway I set up a large 30gal plastic garbage can with a spout at the bottom to use as a storage container for topping off the tank and also doing water changes. I love this setup.
I recently created an automatic topoff system on my tank so now I dont need to use the storage container for top offs. I now would like to use the container for pre-mixing saltwater so water changes go faster.
I opened the container today to see what I need to do to make a mixing tank and noticed that the water has an odor. I belive its from the plastic.
I decided to empty the container and I would like to just scrub it out to make sure the new water stays clean.
Is there any product I should use to clean it? I thought of bleach or dish soap but I dont think those are safe enough. Please let me know what you think.
Also let me know if you have any good tips for making a mixing container.

Just wipe it with rubbing alcohol and rinse it real good. I wouldn't use any type of soap or bleach.

Its definatly not comming from the RO unit beauce I drink that everyday and there is no odor at all. Its definatly the plastic. I just think the water just sits too long. Im also going to put a powerhead in the storage tank.
